Me and little Sasha at Applebee's.

On 20 Aug 05, I did the Pikes Peak Ascent in Colorado. Pikes Peak is just west of Colorado Springs. It was 13.32 miles with an average incline of 11%. The peak is just above 14,000 feet. I came in around 289th out of 1,229 men. My time was pretty slow at 3:40:05. The pics below were taken right after I finished.

Ok, here is what's new with me. On the 28th of September 2005 I was hit by a car during my early morning bike commute. Technically, I was the one that hit the car when it pulled out in front of me at a major intersection. I was doing almost 30 mph, when I hit the passenger side door. The impact sent me flying over the car with a nice flip that had me landing on my back on the other side. At least that's what I think happened, since I have no recollection of the actual impact. I woke up in the ambulance about 20 min. later. I broke my clavicle, scapula, ulna and radius -- all on the left side. I had surgery on the 10th of October. They screwed my radius back together, and they used a titanium plate to get the ulna nice and straight. The doctor says the operation went well. We'll find out on the 25th of October when they replace my long cast with a short one. This is what my bike looks like now.
